Aquarino APP

AQUARINO APP

USER MANUAL

All your Aquarino equipment on your phone and in the cloud.

App 2.0.6

Preface

Like every aquarist, I looked for what was best for my fauna and flora; it took a lot of equipment, products and study.

After buying several devices to monitor, control and help me care for my aquarium, I realised that none of them met my needs perfectly. There was difficult setup, high cost and plenty of limitations.

So I decided to use my knowledge of technology, and my own resources, to offer our hobby a new option. That is the moment Aquarino was born.

I am very proud of what we have built. Many aquarists took an active part, sending suggestions. We only reached this result because you believed in the project.

What we want to keep as the essence of Aquarino is direct contact with aquarists, close support and service, and speed in delivering new features and products.

Join our channels to ask questions, send suggestions and talk about the hobby:

Aquarino depends on all of us to move forward and become a reference in usability, features and service for aquarists worldwide.

Thank you! We will repay your trust, and take our hobby to a new level.

How to use this manual

This manual covers the Aquarino app — the hub that brings all your equipment together on your phone. The screens of each piece of equipment inside the app (the Controller's outlets, the KH's calibration) belong to each product's own manual; here the focus is on what belongs to the app: account, devices, sharing, notifications and integrations.

Four kinds of highlight appear throughout the text:

PART I

Getting to know the app

What the app does and how to install it on your device.

CHAPTER 1

What the Aquarino APP is

The Aquarino APP is Aquarino's official app: a single hub that brings all your equipment — Aquarino KH, Controller and Display — to your phone, with access from anywhere through the cloud.

1.1 What it does

  • Brings your equipment together in a single list, with each unit's online/offline state.
  • Controls each piece of equipment with the same screens as the Local Manager — outlets, sensors, dosers, rules, graphs.
  • Adds new equipment with a wizard that handles the network setup from start to finish.
  • Shares access with people you trust — whoever looks after the aquarium during your holidays.
  • Notifies you by push, e-mail or Telegram, your choice, equipment by equipment.
  • Integrates: Alexa, Telegram, and API tokens for partner apps.
  • And it also brings aquarium calculators — volume, salinity, alkalinity, water change and more.

1.2 Local and cloud, without you thinking about it

The app reaches the equipment through two paths: directly over your network, when you are both in the same house, or through the Aquarino cloud, from anywhere. The switch is automatic — you open the equipment and the app picks the best path available.

CHAPTER 2

Installing the app

Aquarino is a native app, available in the official stores:

PlatformWhere to downloadRequirement
AndroidGoogle Play — search for "Aquarino"A recent Android version, with Google Play
iPhone / iPadApp Store — search for "Aquarino"iOS 15 or later

Install it, open it, and the sign-in screen appears: if you already have an account, sign in; if not, Chapter 3 takes care of that.

The sign-in screen: enter with your account, recover your password or create a new account.

PART II

Your account

Creating, protecting and adjusting the account that ties everything together.

CHAPTER 3

Creating and activating the account

The Aquarino account is what links the equipment to you — it is how you sign in to the app, receive alerts and share access.

3.1 Creating the account

On the sign-in screen, tap Create an account and fill in:

FieldWhat to enter
First Name and Last NameHow you want to be identified
PhoneWith the country selector. Used by support to reach you
EmailAn address you actually check — that is where the activation PIN and the alerts arrive
Password and Confirm passwordSee the requirements below

Password requirements

  • 8 to 60 characters;
  • at least one uppercase letter;
  • at least one lowercase letter;
  • at least one number;
  • at least one special character.

The app shows the list on screen and ticks off each requirement as you type.

Creating the account: fill in your details and confirm the password.

3.2 Activating with the PIN

Once the registration is complete, you receive a 6-digit PIN by e-mail. Enter it on the activation screen and tap Activate account.

3.3 Forgot your password

On the sign-in screen, Forgot password? sends a code by e-mail; with it, you set the new password right away. If you already have a valid code, the I already have a code option jumps straight to that step.

CHAPTER 4

First sign-in

Right after you sign in for the first time, the app walks you through a quick preferences setup:

  1. Welcome — a summary of what comes next.
  2. Biometric lock — protect the app with your fingerprint or facial recognition. Recommended: the app commands your aquarium's equipment.
  3. Push notifications — equipment alerts straight to your phone's screen. When you turn this on, the app switches your devices' alert preferences to push.
  4. Done — review the summary and tap Start.
CHAPTER 5

Profile and security

The app's side menu — your name at the top — gathers the account settings.

5.1 Profile

FieldDetail
First Name, Last Name, PhoneEditable at any time
EmailRead-only — it is the account's identity
LanguagePortuguese, English or Italian
Telegram AccountLinks or unlinks Telegram to receive alerts (Chapter 15)
Biometric lockWhen the app asks for your biometrics again: never, immediately, after 5 or 15 minutes, 1 hour or 1 day

5.2 Changing the password

In the side menu, Change Password replaces the account password — the requirements are the same as at registration.

5.3 Signing out and deleting the account

  • Sign out ends the session on the device — the equipment keeps running normally, of course.
  • Account deletion is done through the site: cloud.aquarino.com.br/auth/request-remove. You enter the e-mail, receive a confirmation PIN, and the removal is permanent.
PART III

Your equipment

The device list, the setup wizard and access sharing.

CHAPTER 6

The device list

The device list is the app's front door: one card per piece of equipment, with everything you need to know before opening it.

6.1 The equipment card

ElementWhat it shows
Product photoController, KH or Display — immediate visual identification
NameThe name you gave the equipment (the hostname)
Status triangleGreen = online (seen on the network or in the cloud within the last minute) · red = offline
Ownership iconPerson = equipment of yours · sharing arrow = shared with you (and the card shows the owner's name)
Local IPThe equipment's address on the network, when known
UUIDThe unique identifier — the same one as on the System screen

Tap the card to open the equipment. If it is offline, the app lets you know — and offers the Change network action, which opens the Wi-Fi reconfiguration wizard.

6.2 Organisation and filters

  • Equipment of yours comes first, then the shared ones, in alphabetical order.
  • The funnel filters by ownership (all, mine, shared with me), by type (Controller, KH) and by name. The icon turns blue when a filter is active.
  • Pull the list down to sync with the cloud.
  • The bell at the top opens the notification inbox (Chapter 11), with the unread counter.
  • The + card at the end starts adding a new piece of equipment.
CHAPTER 7

Adding equipment

The setup wizard takes care of everything: it talks to the equipment, hands over your network password and registers it to your account. There are six steps and it takes just a few minutes.

7.1 Before you start

  • The equipment must be plugged in;
  • Have your Wi-Fi network name and password at hand — and confirm the network is 2.4 GHz;
  • Stay close to the equipment during the process.

7.2 The six steps

1 · Device type

Choose Controller, KH or Display.

2 · Prepare your device

Power the equipment on and wait for the ready signs: the startup beep and the blinking green LED — the blinking is what indicates it is in setup mode. If the LED does not blink, unplug it, plug it back in and wait.

3 · Connect to Aquarino

The equipment creates a temporary Wi-Fi networkAquarino for the Controller, AquarinoKH for the KH, AquarinoDisplay for the Display. The app shows the name and the Open Wi-Fi Settings button:

  1. Connect your phone to the indicated network.
  2. It has no password and no internet — when the phone warns you, choose to stay connected.
  3. Return to the app and tap I am connected.
The equipment's temporary network in the Wi-Fi settings: open, no internet — and that is by design.
The equipment's temporary network in the Wi-Fi settings: open, no internet — and that is by design.

4 · Network

The app lists the networks the equipment can see, from strongest to weakest. Pick yours, enter the password and tap Configure. Your network didn't show up? Refresh networks runs the scan again, and the Manual SSID option covers hidden networks.

5 · Configuring

The app sends your e-mail to the equipment — that is what links it to your account —, hands over the network and restarts it. The screen shows a 5-minute countdown and stays awake until the end; the app polls the cloud every few seconds until the equipment shows up as registered.

6 · Done

Product photo, green icon, Done. The equipment joins your list and is already responding — from home or from anywhere.

7.3 If something fails

SituationWhat to do
The 5-minute countdown ran outIt is almost always the Wi-Fi password typed wrong. Run the wizard again, checking the password carefully
The temporary network does not appearConfirm the green LED is blinking. Equipment that was configured before does not open the network — use Reset Network on its System screen
The app does not list the networksConfirm the phone really is on the equipment's network and tap Refresh networks
Configured, but it does not appear in the listCheck that the equipment connected (solid green LED) and pull the list to refresh
CHAPTER 8

Removing equipment

The trash icon on the card removes the equipment from your list. The effect depends on your role:

If you are...What happens
OwnerYou stop being the owner: the equipment leaves your list, your notification preferences are erased and it is left without an owner — ready to be linked by another account (or yours, again)
Guest (shared with you)The equipment simply leaves your list. Nothing changes for the owner
CHAPTER 9

Sharing access

A beautiful aquarium demands constant attention, and travelling does not have to be a source of anxiety: share access with someone you trust, who watches and acts while you are away.

  1. On the card of a piece of equipment of yours, tap the share icon.
  2. Enter the person's e-mail and confirm with the +.
  3. The person now sees the equipment in their list, marked as shared.
The equipment in the list, with the sharing shortcut highlighted.

Enter the e-mail of the person receiving access and confirm.
Enter the e-mail of the person receiving access and confirm.

The list of people with access to the equipment — and where revocation happens.
  • Only the owner shares — and revokes: the trash icon next to each guest removes the access instantly.
  • The guest must already have an Aquarino account with the given e-mail; without an account, the app warns that the user was not found.
  • Each guest picks their own notification preferences for the equipment — the alert that reaches you does not bother someone who did not ask for it.
PART IV

Day to day

Navigating your equipment, getting the right alerts and using the tools.

CHAPTER 10

Navigating a piece of equipment

When you open a piece of equipment, the bottom bar builds that product's areas — the same screens as the Local Manager, with the same names:

ProductAreas
Aquarino ControllerHome · Outlets · Sensors · Feeding · Dosers · Rules · Graphs · Logs · Custom. · System
Aquarino KHHome · Graphs · Logs · Custom. · Configuration · System
Aquarino DisplayDisplay · Logs · Custom. · System

The content of each screen belongs to each product's manual — the behaviour is identical to local access. What changes in the app:

  • The Aquarino icon at the start of the bar goes back to the device list.
  • Through the cloud, the graphs gain more resolution and longer periods than in local access.
  • Critical actions — Configure Wifi, Calibration, Shutdown, Reset Network and Factory Reset — require the phone on the same network as the equipment. Away from it, the app explains: "this feature is not available remotely".
CHAPTER 11

Notifications

11.1 Choosing the channel, per equipment

In the side menu, Notification Preferences lists your equipment, each with its own alert channel:

ChannelWhen it makes sense
PushThe fastest path — the alert on your phone's screen. Recommended for your main equipment
EmailThe alert that stays on record in your inbox
TelegramFor those who live on Telegram — requires the linked account (Chapter 15)
Don't sentSilence from this equipment — you still see everything in the app

11.2 The notification inbox

The bell on the device list keeps everything that arrived: sensor alerts, activations, system notices. When you open it, the phone's notifications are cleared; when you leave, everything is marked as read. The local history keeps the last 30 days.

CHAPTER 12

Calculators

In the side menu, Calculators gathers the everyday sums of the hobby — without leaving the app:

CalculatorWhat for
Water volumeThe aquarium's real volume, discounting what is not water
Sand bedHow much sand for the desired height
SalinityConversions between density, conductivity and salinity
Linear dilutionAdjusting solution concentrations
Partial water changeThe effect of the water change on your parameters
Alkalinity · Calcium · MagnesiumCorrections of the big three, by product
GFO media · Carbon mediaSizing the reactor media
Energy billHow much the aquarium costs per month
Heating · CoolingSizing the heater and chiller for your volume
CHAPTER 13

Diagnostics

When something seems off — equipment that does not show up, a flickering status — the Diagnostics screen (side menu) shows the health of the app's own communication:

  • MQTT — the connection to the cloud: connected or not.
  • Local discovery (SSDP) — the scan of your network, with the time of the last search.
  • Local probing — the direct test of the known IPs.
  • Counters — how many devices, how many online over the network, how many through the cloud.

The export session logs button generates a protected file to send to support — it is the X-ray that speeds up any assistance.

PART V

Integrations

Aquarino talking to the rest of your world.

CHAPTER 14

Integration tokens and API

Want to take your sensor data to a system of your own, an automated spreadsheet or a partner app? The Integrations menu creates access tokens — keys that grant read access to one piece of equipment's sensors, without handing over your account.

14.1 Creating a token

  1. In the side menu, open Integrations and tap Add.
  2. Give the token a name — the service that will use it, for example.
  3. If you want, set a password and an expiry (up to 10 years, or no expiration).
  4. Choose the equipment — one token grants access to a single piece of equipment.
  5. Save and use the Copy button to take the token to the destination service.

The list shows the active tokens, with creation date, expiry and the edit and revoke actions — revoking cuts the access instantly, without affecting anything else.

14.2 The sensor API

The token grants access to the Aquarino cloud's read endpoint:

  • GET cloud.aquarino.com.br/api/integrations/sensors with the token in the Authorization: Bearer header;
  • The response brings the equipment, the firmware and the list of sensors with values and units;
  • Limit of 12 calls per hour per token — the recommendation is one call every 15 minutes, which matches the data refresh pace.
CHAPTER 15

Telegram

With your Telegram account linked, equipment alerts arrive as messages from the @AquarinoBot bot — and you pick the Telegram channel per equipment in Notification Preferences.

  1. In your profile, on the Telegram account option, tap to link — the app opens @AquarinoBot with the link ready to confirm.
  2. Manual alternative: in Telegram, send @AquarinoBot the command /start your@email.com with your Aquarino account's e-mail.
  3. Return to Notification Preferences and switch the desired equipment to Telegram.

To unlink, same place in the profile — the equipment that was using Telegram then needs another channel.

CHAPTER 16

Alexa and partner apps

16.1 Alexa skill

With the Aquarino skill enabled in the Alexa app, you query and command your equipment by voice. The linking uses your Aquarino account: when you enable the skill, Alexa asks for the login and, once authorised, your equipment becomes available by voice. The skill's manual details the commands.

16.2 Approved partner apps

The Integrations screen also lists the approved partner apps — the ones that work with Aquarino data through the official API. The path is the same: create a token (Chapter 14) and enter it in the partner app.

The current approved partners: Aquarium Hub, Golden Reef, ReefFlow and ReefMind.

Maintenance and support

Solutions to the most common problems, and how to reach us.

CHAPTER 17

Troubleshooting

SymptomWhat to do
I did not receive the activation PINCheck spam and junk folders; use Resend activation PIN — the new code invalidates the previous one. Confirm the registration e-mail is correct
Equipment shows offline, but it is onThe status considers the last minute. Pull the list to refresh; check the equipment's Wi-Fi LED and the Diagnostics screen (Chapter 13)
Equipment offline after changing router or moving houseThe network stored in the equipment has changed. Tap the card and use the Change network action — the wizard reconfigures the Wi-Fi
The setup wizard fails at the final stepIt is almost always the Wi-Fi password. Try again checking the password, and confirm the network is 2.4 GHz
I can't calibrate / configure Wi-Fi / reset from the appThese actions require the phone on the same network as the equipment — it is protection, not a defect. Connect to your home Wi-Fi and try again
Push does not arriveCheck the app's notification permissions in the phone's system settings, and the equipment's channel in Notification Preferences
Telegram does not arriveConfirm the link in your profile and the Telegram channel on the desired equipment. Redo the /start with the account's exact e-mail
Sharing says the user was not foundThe guest needs to create their Aquarino account first, with the same e-mail you are entering
The app asks for a firmware update on the equipmentThe equipment is below the supported minimum. Update it through the Local Manager and come back
The app asks for my biometrics all the timeIt is the biometric lock interval in your profile — set a longer interval, or turn it off

If it persists, export the session logs on the Diagnostics screen and send them to support along with a description of the problem.

CHAPTER 18

Frequently asked questions

Is the app free?

Yes — the app, the account and cloud access come with Aquarino equipment at no cost.

Can I have more than one piece of equipment on the same account?

Yes, as many as you like — the list gathers them all, yours and the ones shared with you. And the filters help when the list grows.

Can I access the same account on two phones?

Yes. Sign in with the same e-mail and password; notification preferences apply per account, and each device asks for its own push and biometrics permissions.

What can the guest of a share do?

See and operate the equipment through the normal screens. What they can not do: share with third parties, revoke access or remove ownership — that belongs to the owner alone.

Does it work without internet?

On the same network as the equipment, yes — the app talks to it directly. Away from home, internet is required (the cloud is what bridges the gap).

I sold a piece of equipment. Now what?

Remove it from your list (Chapter 8): it is left without an owner and the buyer adds it to their account with the wizard. The equipment's internal settings remain — a factory reset before handing it over is worthwhile, if you prefer.

Where does my data live?

Equipment readings and events are synced with the Aquarino cloud for remote access, graphs and notifications. The full policies are at cloud.aquarino.com.br, on the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy pages.

How do I delete my account?

Through the site: cloud.aquarino.com.br/auth/request-remove, with confirmation by e-mail PIN (Chapter 5).
